The Canadian Association of Collection Agencies changes its name

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Society of Collection Agencies (“OSCA”) is pleased to announce our initiative to expand our association nationally. Effective January 1, 2016, our association will change its name to the Canadian Society of Collection Agencies (“CSCA”) to better align the association with our future strategy.

Since 1964, the OSCA has been a not-for-profit trade organization representing the voice of the collections industry on behalf of credit and collections companies in Ontario. The new CSCA brand already represents more than 60 accounts receivable management companies employing more than 4,800 licensed collection agents in Ontario alone. The CCAA will continue to act as the voice of the collections industry in Canada.

Becoming a member and participating in the organization will become the new accreditation standard for many organizations dealing with debt collection companies. Building on our 52-year history, the main objectives of the association are to:

  • Improve industry practices and efficiency,
  • Add integrity, structure and dignity to each of our members’ business activities while protecting consumers, and
  • To present a united approach to bodies that regulate the activities of our members.

Since CASC members are governed by federal and provincial regulations regarding debt collection, privacy, and telecommunications, our members will enjoy increased benefits as the association expands nationwide. , particularly with respect to provincial regulations outside of Ontario.

Members of the OSCA Board of Directors, who have transitioned to the CSCA Board of Directors, already have strong relationships with all provincial and territorial regulators and will leverage these relationships to understand, shape and communicate any future, actual and potential changes to the rules and regulations governing our industry. .

Along with adopting a new name, CSCA will launch a new website which will be located at The existing OSCA website ( will still be accessible.

If you are not yet a member, we have implemented a Member Incentive Program (MIP). The MIP provides the perfect opportunity to share the many benefits of membership with non-member companies. All new members in 2016 will receive a $200 credit towards the cost of our 2016 Annual General Meeting. We are excited to embark on this new chapter in OSCA history and look forward to working with all of our members. at national scale.
