Noida: There does not appear to be any arrest of criminals in Uttar Pradesh. In a new incident, armed thieves on Thursday looted a Rs 12 lakh money collection agent in Noida, in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district.
The victim has been identified as Sukhveer. The incident happened when Sukhveer was returning to Delhi after collecting money from customers in Sector 104 of Noida.
The thieves intercepted Sukhveer and threatened him at gunpoint and stole him. Meanwhile, the Post Officer (SHO) at Area 39 Police Station has been suspended for alleged negligence, according to a report in Indian Express.
“The agent had collected money in several places and was stopped by attackers on bicycles in sector 104. The accused threatened him and tore the bag full of money from him. A complaint has been lodged at Sector 39 police station and we are collecting evidence. CCTV footage of the area is being examined to locate the accused, “the report said, citing a Noida police official.
The collection agent is employed by a wholesale trader who has customers in several areas of Noida including Bhangel, Khora. As usual, Sukhveer picked up cash on Thursday to hand it over to his employer in Delhi.
Victim Sukhveer informed police of the loot with the help of a passer-by. Police have now filed a Section 392 (theft) complaint against unidentified defendants in connection with the loot.
Police suspect the thieves were familiar with the area and the Debt Collector’s whereabouts.
