Gurugram: Gang Targeted Money Raisers Arrested | News from Gurgaon

GURUGRAM: Police dismantled a gang of thieves and arrested four of its members in Sector 14, more than a week after an employee of a private company was robbed for Rs 10 lakh near Atul Kataria Chowk. The gang specialized in robbing money-raising agents who worked for private companies, police said.
In recent months, the gang had executed around four robberies across Delhi-NCR. It monitored bank branches and targeted those who regularly carried large amounts of cash.
The four men arrested on Thursday were identified as Shravan Kumar (34) from Hisar, Sandeep (28) from Panipat, Suresh (38) from Bahadurgarh and Surender (35) from Bahadurgarh.
Inspector Narender Chouhan, head of the criminal unit in sector 17, said the men admitted to robbing a youth of Rs 4 lakh in sector 14 on September 28 last year. They had also recently snatched Rs 8.5 lakh from a person in Sector 14 and Rs 16 lakh in Mahipalpur in Delhi, police said.
“The gang had been active for a year and only targets employees of traders and private companies authorized to collect and deposit cash in banks,” ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan. These agents usually move around without any security, making them easy targets for the gang, he added.
On January 11, three men snatched a bag containing Rs 10 lakh in cash and other valuables at gunpoint from a private company executive near Atul Kataria Chowk.
