Four men have been arrested for stealing 2.37 lakh of rupees from an e-commerce company debt collector by threatening him with a toy gun in the Maidan Garhi area of ââsouth Delhi, police said on Wednesday .
Defendants Pradeep (21), Sonu (22) and Neeraj (21) executed the robbery on Tuesday based on information provided by a person identified as Sanjeev (24), they said. They planned the theft to fund their drug addiction, police said.
Police say the victim, Ganesh Sahani, works with a fundraising company based at Mohan Estate on Mathura Road.
After collecting Rs.237,774 in cash from an e-commerce business in Saidulajab on Tuesday, Sahani was on his way to Mehrauli on his motorbike when three men threatened him with a toy gun and stole him, said a senior police officer.
Deputy Police Commissioner (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said: âWe recorded a case and during the investigation we found out that the three men who committed the theft were on a silver colored motorbike which had been stolen. a fake license plate.
“We then examined the victim at length and also questioned the workers of the company and suspected the involvement of an insider in passing information to the three men about the money,” he said.
On the basis of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the defendants were arrested on Tuesday evening and Rs 2,21,000 in cash were recovered, the DCP said.
Two cell phones, a motorcycle and the toy gun were seized, he added.
