Bikers snatch Rs 18 lakh from fundraiser in northwest Delhi | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: Bike thieves took away a massive Rs 18 lakh from a money collection agent in Jahangirpuri, northwest Delhi, on Monday afternoon. The thieves pushed the victim to the ground and snatched the bag from him.
DCP (Northwest) Vijayanta Arya said one case has been recorded. According to the preliminary investigation, Manoj Sharma (46), who works as a money-raising agent for a private company, had traveled to Jahangirpuri to collect money from various mobile shops and showrooms.
After collecting the money, Sharma reached the C block of Jahangirpuri, when three men on motorcycles came and tried to snatch the bag from her. Sharma resisted the attempt but fell on the road even as the men on the bikes tried to grab the strap of the bag. During the fight, the bag fell on the road and the thieves grabbed it and fled. Sharma tried to chase them away but was unsuccessful. Sharma then called her employer and the police and informed them of the incident.
A police team attended the scene and recorded Sharma’s statement, in which he also gave them the description of the attackers. It is suspected that the thieves were also armed.
Officers scan CCTV footage of the section to verify the identity of suspects. They also interview local informants to obtain information on the suspects.
It is suspected that the thieves were aware of Sharma’s movements and knew he would be carrying the money.
